Answer Details

In a solution more concentrated than the cell sap, water leaves the cell by osmosis. So much water can be lost that the cytoplasm and cell membrane shrink and pull away from the rigid cell wall; this state is called plasmolysis. A turgid cell is the opposite (full of water and firm), fully permeable describes a membrane not a cell, and actively respiring is unrelated to water loss.
