Answer Details

The smallest change in mass means the least net osmosis, which occurs when the external solution is closest in concentration to the cell sap (nearly equal water potentials). The most concentrated solution would cause the greatest water loss, the most dilute the greatest gain, and temperature does not set the balance point.
