The site was previously a low-density industrial area. (a) The transport infrastructure is light rail, also called a tram or LRT. [1]
(b) Residents can use public transport easily because homes are close to the route. This reduces the need for private-car travel and parking. High-density housing also uses accessible land efficiently and provides enough passengers to support a frequent service. Any two advantages gain credit. [2]
(c) Planning policies could require a percentage of homes to be affordable, use public subsidy for social housing, and require developer contributions for housing. Rent controls or long-term affordable tenancies, and protection of existing lower-cost homes from demolition, are also valid. Any three policies gain credit. [3]
