An electoral college is a form of indirect election where a group of people selected by voters casts their vote on behalf of the citizens. This method is used to elect the president in the United States, where the citizens vote for electors who then cast their votes in the Electoral College to decide the winner of the election. The number of electors each state has is based on the number of representatives in Congress that state has. The candidate who receives a majority of electoral votes (270 out of 538) is declared the winner of the presidential election.
