Every person buys one ticket at the same price, so the total cost is the price of one ticket multiplied by the number of people:
\[ 18.75\times 23 \] [M1]
Splitting the \(23\) makes the arithmetic manageable:
\[ 18.75\times 20=375,\qquad 18.75\times 3=56.25 \]
\[ 375+56.25=431.25 \]
The total cost is \(\$431.25\). [A1]
An estimate checks the size of the answer: \(19\times 23\approx 437\), so a total near \(\$431\) is right. An answer near \(\$43\) or \(\$4312\) signals a misplaced decimal point.
Money answers should be written with exactly two decimal places, so \(\$431.25\) rather than \(\$431.3\) or \(\$431.250\). Even when the working is correct, showing the multiplication earns the method mark if the arithmetic slips.
