Without food, organisms would not be able to survive as they would not have the necessary energy and resources to carry out life-sustaining activities.

Over many generations, small changes in the traits of an organism accumulate, leading to new, distinct species that are better adapted to their environment. This process can take hundreds or thousands of years and is driven by the survival and reproduction of organisms that have traits that give them an advantage in their environment.
