Adhesive force is the force of attraction between the molecules of two different substances (unlike molecules).

Cohesive force is the force of attraction between the molecules of the same substance (like molecules).

(b) One example each

Adhesion: water wetting and sticking to the surface of a clean glass (or ink sticking to paper; water clinging to glass walls).
Cohesion: mercury forming rounded droplets, or water molecules holding together to form a drop (or mercury not wetting glass).
