Who is said to blow the second trumpet to announce Resurrection?

In Islamic eschatology, the angel Israfil is tasked with blowing the trumpet (Sur) that signals the end of the world and the resurrection of all creation. The trumpet is blown twice: the first blast causes every living being to perish, and the second blast resurrects all souls for the Day of Judgment (Yawm al-Qiyamah).

This role is specific to Israfil and is distinct from the duties of the other major angels. Jibril (Gabriel) is the angel of revelation who brought the Qur'an to Prophet Muhammad. Mikail (Michael) is responsible for provisions and natural phenomena such as rain. Malik is the guardian of Hellfire, as mentioned in Surah Az-Zukhruf (43:77).

The association of Israfil with the trumpet is grounded in well-known hadith literature and is a standard teaching point in Islamic Studies. When revising the roles of the angels, remember that each of the four major angels has a distinct, non-overlapping function.
