Prophet Yusuf (Joseph, peace be upon him) is the Prophet renowned in the Qur'an for his God-given ability to interpret dreams. An entire surah - Surah Yusuf (Chapter 12) - is devoted to his story and is described by the Qur'an as "the best of stories" (ahsan al-qasas).

Yusuf's gift of dream interpretation is demonstrated at several key points in his story. As a child, he told his father Ya'qub (Jacob) about a dream in which eleven stars, the sun, and the moon prostrated to him - a vision that later came true. While imprisoned in Egypt, he correctly interpreted the dreams of two fellow inmates: one would serve wine to the king, and the other would be crucified.
