The table below gives results from a coastguard survey after a storm surge at a low-lying settlement. Fig. 1 shows the route of the surge across the beach and through a gap in the dunes. The coastguard measured water depth on the same road at different distances inland. These figures will help decide where evacuation signs should be placed.
