(a) Explain how a rise in price can help allocate meals between consumers. [2]

Answer Details

(a) A higher price reduces quantity demanded because some consumers are unwilling or unable to pay the higher price. The available meals are therefore allocated to consumers who are willing and able to pay that price. [2]
