Flooding in coastal areas can best be checked by channelization. This involves constructing channels or canals that direct the flow of water away from the coastal areas. This helps to prevent the accumulation of water in low-lying areas and reduces the risk of flooding. Terracing involves creating steps or terraces on a slope to reduce soil erosion and prevent landslides. Tree planting helps to prevent erosion and reduce the amount of water runoff. Contour ploughing involves ploughing along the contour lines of a slope to prevent soil erosion and reduce water runoff. However, none of these methods is specifically designed to address the issue of coastal flooding.
