ماذا يُفهم من المثل: "العقل زينة"؟
The Arabic proverb "العقل زينة" (al-'aql zeena) literally translates to "the mind is an adornment." The passage explains this by stating that sound thinking and reason beautify a person's character and earn them respect.
The word زينة (adornment/beautification) is used metaphorically here. Just as physical adornment enhances appearance, the proverb asserts that the mind and rational thinking enhance and improve a person. The correct understanding is therefore that the mind improves and beautifies the human being (العقل يُحسن الإنسان).
The other options misinterpret the proverb: saying the mind is secondary contradicts the proverb's elevation of the mind; restricting adornment to women takes the word زينة literally and out of context; and claiming adornment is useless ignores the proverb's clearly positive meaning.
