The major raw material of the paper industry is pulp. Pulp is made by separating the cellulose fibers from the other components of wood, such as lignin and hemicellulose, through a process called pulping. The cellulose fibers are then processed further to make different types of paper products. Other raw materials like recycled paper and non-wood fibers can also be used in making pulp, but wood pulp is the primary raw material for the paper industry.
