Which of following pairs of scientists discovered the Rhesus factor in human blood?
Answer Details
The correct answer is Landsteiner and Levine. In 1937, Karl Landsteiner and Alexander S. Wiener discovered the Rhesus factor in human blood, which is a protein present on the surface of red blood cells. They named the protein after the Rhesus monkey, as it was first identified in the blood of this species. Later, in 1940, Philip Levine identified the Rh factor as the cause of hemolytic disease of the newborn.
