Answer Details
Competition among individuals of a population increases the survival of the fittest. This is because competition creates a struggle for resources, such as food, water, and shelter. The individuals that are best adapted to their environment and are able to acquire these resources have a higher chance of surviving and reproducing. Over time, this can lead to the evolution of traits that increase an individual's ability to compete for resources, resulting in a population of individuals that are well-suited to their environment. Therefore, competition increases the selection pressure on the population, leading to the survival of the fittest.
