Work out the size of one interior angle of the regular pentagon. (3)

Answer Details

This question tests the formula for the sum of the interior angles of a polygon, \((n - 2) \times 180^\circ\), and then dividing by the number of equal angles in a regular polygon.

A pentagon has \(n = 5\) sides, so the sum of its interior angles is \((5 - 2) \times 180 = 3 \times 180 = 540^\circ\). [1 mark]

Since the pentagon is regular, all five interior angles are equal, so one interior angle is \(540 \div 5\). [1 mark]

\(= 108^\circ\). [1 mark]
