Which of the following dams in Africa provides both irrigation water and hydro-electricity?
Answer Details
The Aswan Dam in Egypt provides both irrigation water and hydro-electricity. The dam is located on the Nile River and was completed in 1970. It is one of the largest dams in the world, and its reservoir, Lake Nasser, provides water for irrigation to over 3 million acres of land, as well as hydroelectric power for much of Egypt's population. The other dams listed also provide hydro-electricity, but their main purpose is either irrigation (Gezira) or flood control (Kainji, Cabora Bassa, Akosombo).
