(a) As shown in the sketch map above, three major vegetation belts in Nigeria are:

Mangrove swamp forest, found along the coastal and Niger Delta areas.
Tropical rainforest, found mainly in southern Nigeria, north of the mangrove swamp belt.
Guinea savanna, found in the central belt of Nigeria.

(b) Effects of climate on the tropical rainforest vegetation belt

The belt receives heavy rainfall, usually above \(1,500\text{ mm}\) annually. This provides sufficient moisture for plant growth throughout the year.
Rainfall is fairly regular and the dry season is short. Consequently, most trees do not shed all their leaves at the same time, making the forest evergreen.
High temperatures throughout the year encourage rapid growth of trees, shrubs, climbers and other plants.
High relative humidity and abundant sunshine promote luxuriant and dense vegetation growth.
The favourable hot and wet conditions produce tall hardwood trees with broad leaves, thick undergrowth and several layers of vegetation.

(c) Resources found in the tropical rainforest belt and their uses

Resource	Uses
Timber	It is used for building and construction, such as roofing, doors, windows and bridges. It is used for making furniture, including chairs, tables, beds and cupboards.
Wild animals	They provide meat or bush meat for food. They are used for recreation and tourism in game reserves and wildlife parks.
