The model is a full-size replica of a tea box made from plain white card with no printed graphics. - Shape and proportion check: The model allows the designer to see and handle the box in three dimensions, checking that the overall shape, proportions and visual balance look right before committing to expensive full-colour printing and production tooling. Problems that are not obvious on a 2D drawing (such as a box that looks too tall and narrow, or a lid that sits awkwardly) become immediately apparent on a physical model. [1]
- Quick and cheap error correction: Mistakes in the net layout, fold positions or tab sizes can be identified and corrected quickly and inexpensively using plain card, rather than discovering them after printed packaging has been manufactured. [1]
