Welding (MIG welding or arc welding also accepted) [1]. The diagram shows two mild steel plates joined by a weld bead, which is the fused metal deposited along the joint line. Welding melts the parent metal at the joint, and often adds filler material, creating a permanent metallurgical bond when it solidifies.
