Question 1 Report
Fig. 1.1 shows part of a ticker tape pulled through a timer that prints 50 dots each second. The dots are evenly spaced and each gap between neighbouring dots measures 3 cm on the tape. What is the speed of the object that pulled the tape?
The correct answer is 1.5 m/s. With 50 dots per second each gap takes \(\frac{1}{50}=0.02\ \text{s}\), and each gap is 3 cm \(=0.03\) m, so speed \(=\frac{0.03}{0.02}=1.5\ \text{m/s}\). 15 m/s and 150 m/s come from unit-conversion slips, and 0.6 m/s divides the wrong way.
