Roots and shoots respond to gravity in opposite ways. A root grows downwards, towards gravity, so it is positively gravitropic (this anchors the plant and reaches water). A shoot grows upwards, away from gravity, so it is negatively gravitropic (this lifts leaves towards light). So the root is positive and the shoot is negative gravitropic; saying both respond the same way misses this opposite behaviour.
