The table shows ion uptake by root cells with and without oxygen. What does the result show?
Ion uptake is high with oxygen (20 units) but very low without it (3 units), showing that uptake needs energy from respiration, which needs oxygen. Aerobic respiration supplies the energy for active transport, so removing oxygen starves the process of energy. Ions do not move only by osmosis, cells do not absorb more without oxygen, and oxygen clearly does affect uptake, so the other statements contradict the readings.
