Answer Details
The table shows carbon dioxide in exhaled air rising from 4% to 6% after exercise. During exercise the muscles respire faster, and aerobic respiration releases carbon dioxide, so more carbon dioxide is produced and breathed out. Reduced respiration would lower carbon dioxide, photosynthesis does not occur in the lungs, and the oxygen level of the air is not what causes this rise, so increased respiration in the muscles is the cause.
