Source A

Feminist sociologist Heaton and Lawson studied the ways in which schools reinforce gender differences. They found that textbooks and teaching materials often portrayed men and women in stereotypical roles, with men shown in active, professional positions and women in domestic or caring roles. Although there have been significant changes in recent decades, some feminist sociologists argue that the hidden curriculum continues to channel boys and girls toward different subjects and career aspirations. They suggest that gendered expectations within schools contribute to occupational segregation in the labour market.
