The lid lifts up and down. It can be used on its own. It does its job well.
The parts fit well and look neat. It is safe to use in a school. The shape helps it to do its job well. The sides are straight and even. The legs help it to stand up straight. It needs to hold a lot of weight.
This type of cast iron is chosen because of its corrosion resistance. The designer considered user comfort and cost of materials when selecting materials.

- D: Chipboard (particleboard). [1] The cross-section shows randomly distributed wood particles and chips bonded together with resin adhesive. The irregular pattern of small particles visible in the diagram is characteristic of chipboard, which is made by compressing wood chips and shavings with synthetic resin under heat and pressure.
- E: MDF (medium density fibreboard). [1] The cross-section shows a uniform, smooth, and dense structure with no visible grain, particles, or veneers. MDF is made from fine wood fibres that are mixed with resin adhesive and compressed into flat sheets, giving it a consistent density throughout and very smooth faces.
- F: Blockboard. [1] The cross-section shows solid timber strips (rectangular blocks) sandwiched between thin veneer layers on each face. Blockboard consists of a core of softwood strips laid edge to edge, with a thin veneer of hardwood or higher-quality timber glued to each face. This construction gives it good strength along the length of the core strips while allowing a fine surface finish.
