Security Of Data

Overview

Data is valuable, and wherever something is valuable, someone tries to steal it. Behind every bank login, online order and stored photograph sits a quiet contest between the people who want to protect data and the criminals who want to grab it. This topic teaches you both sides: the threats, from hacking and phishing to card cloning, and the defences, from firewalls and encryption to biometrics and two-step verification.

In this lesson you will learn to describe each threat, what it does and how it harms a user, then pair it with the protection that counters it. You will see exactly how encryption scrambles a message, why a firewall sits between you and the internet, and why two-factor authentication needs something you know and something you have. These are the security ideas every later use of ICT quietly depends on.
