Digital World
Overview
More than half of humanity now carries the internet in a pocket, yet roughly a third of the world has never been online at all. The digital world shapes how we learn, work, bank, vote and stay in touch, which means that being connected, or being left out, increasingly decides who gets ahead. At the same time the same tools raise hard questions about privacy, online safety and the rise of artificial intelligence.
In this note you will not just collect facts about the digital world. You will learn to think about it the Global Perspectives way: weighing it from a personal, a national and a global point of view, testing claims and sources, building balanced arguments about issues such as data privacy and AI, and reasoning toward sensible courses of action you could defend in your report or team project.
Objectives
- Explain why digital world is an issue of global significance and describe its main causes and consequences.
- Compare personal, local/national and global perspectives on digital world, with empathy and supporting evidence.
- Evaluate evidence, sources and arguments relating to digital world, distinguishing fact, opinion, bias and vested interest.
- Develop a line of reasoning toward possible evidence-based courses of action on digital world, and suggest report and team-project angles.
