Overview
A hundred years ago, a woman competing at the Olympics, a festival streamed live to millions of strangers on another continent, or a hospital treating more patients for overeating than for hunger would all have seemed strange or even impossible. Social attitudes and lifestyles change, sometimes gradually and sometimes within a single generation, and global citizenship studies why.
In this lesson you will examine how attitudes to global events, women's rights and environmental issues have shifted, how cultural activities such as festivals, tourism and volunteering shape communities, and how lifestyle changes such as ageing and rising obesity are reshaping societies worldwide.
