Ordering
Overview
Putting numbers in order sounds simple, but it is where careless mistakes with negatives, fractions and decimals quietly creep in. A clear understanding of size, helped by a number line, lets you order any mix of numbers correctly and use the inequality symbols with confidence.
In this lesson you will order quantities by magnitude and become fluent with the symbols for equals, not equals, greater than, less than, and the two 'or equal to' symbols. These ideas lead straight into inequalities later in the course.
