Paper 2 makes two quite different demands of you. One half rewards deep, settled knowledge of a single drama text that you have lived with all year; the other rewards nerve and quick close reading on a poem or prose extract you have never seen before. The skill is to treat both as the same act of reading for effect, just under different conditions.
This note shows you how meaning is made in performance, not only on the page, and gives you a calm, repeatable method for the unseen. Every model uses out-of-copyright writing, so you can borrow the technique and apply it to whatever your own set play and your own exam extract turn out to be.
