Statistical Charts: Bar, Dot, Line, Pie, Scatter
Overview
Different data calls for different pictures. A bar chart compares categories, a pie chart shows shares of a whole, a line graph follows change over time, and a scatter plot reveals a relationship between two variables. Choosing and reading the right one is a core data skill.
In this lesson you will read, interpret and choose between bar charts, dot plots, line graphs, pie charts and scatter plots, knowing what each display is good at showing.
