Theme three is the only theme on the specification that is partly about things that have not happened yet. It covers your studies now, your life at school or college now, and then one topic that points forwards: education post-16. That forward tilt is the whole reason it matters linguistically. It is the theme that forces you to use the future, and the specification asks in three separate places for language that refers to past, present and future events.
This lesson works through the three topics, builds the six ways English actually expresses a future plan and shows which one to reach for when, and then handles the two exam tasks this theme keeps producing: the letter or email about something at school, and the listening gap fill on a talk about somebody's studies. It ends with a 70 to 90 word task marked against the criterion the specification names for it.
