Overview
Poverty is more than low income: it means poor health, little education and lives cut short. Governments have a toolbox of policies to fight it, but each has costs as well as benefits.
In this lesson you will study the main policies used to reduce poverty and redistribute income: promoting economic growth, improving education and healthcare, more generous state benefits, progressive taxation and a national minimum wage. By the end you will be able to explain how each one works and judge how effective it is.
