Overview
Every year, tens of millions of people leave the place they were born and settle somewhere else, sometimes by choice and sometimes because they have no real choice at all. Migration is one of the most discussed, and most misunderstood, issues in global citizenship, and getting the facts and the vocabulary right matters, because loose language can turn a person fleeing danger into a headline about 'migrants' with no distinction made at all.
In this lesson you will learn the real reasons people migrate, the factors that shape a person's identity, and how migration reshapes identity and diversity in the communities people leave and the communities they join.
