Answer Details
The pre-independence political parties in British West Africa were largely concerned about the political emancipation of Africans. These parties were formed by African elites who were dissatisfied with the way the colonial government was treating their people. They sought to challenge the colonial administration and agitated for the participation of Africans in the governance of their countries. The parties championed the cause of independence and self-rule for their countries and advocated for the creation of institutions that would promote democracy and development. They also campaigned for the protection of the rights of their people and fought against discrimination and exploitation by the colonial government and other interest groups.
