A stud bull is a term used to describe a male cattle that is kept mainly for breeding purposes. It is a fully matured and fertile bull that has been selected for its desirable genetic traits and used to mate with female cows to produce offspring with those same traits. Unlike a castrated male cattle or an immature male cattle, a stud bull is capable of producing offspring and is specifically bred and maintained for its breeding potential. Additionally, a stud bull is not used for draft purposes and may or may not be used for artificial insemination depending on the breeding practices of the farm or ranch where it is kept.
