Answer Details
In the honey bee colony, the drones are fertile males with well-developed mouth parts. The drones are larger than the workers and have eyes that are twice the size of the worker bees' eyes. They are produced by the queen specifically for mating purposes and have the sole function of mating with the queen. They do not have any other tasks within the colony and are eventually expelled from the hive at the end of the mating season.
