Wear patterns are evidence of actual long-term use, rather than only what users say they do.

  1. Wear concentrated where the hand grips the product shows where it is actually held. [1]
  2. Wear on the edge that rests on a surface shows how the product is set down, which may differ from the designer’s original assumption. [1]
  3. The unworn control indicates that this feature is rarely used. [1]
