9204-p1-circulation-double-loop-route-2

The diagram shows the route taken by a red blood cell after it leaves the right side of a human heart. A science club is making a display to explain why humans have a double circulatory system. The red blood cell first travels to the lungs, where oxygen enters the blood. It then returns to the heart before travelling to muscles and other body cells. The club uses arrows to show the direction of blood flow. Their display is intended for younger students who know that cells need oxygen for aerobic respiration.
