Answer Details
The system of voting on behalf of another person is known as voting by proxy. It is a mechanism where a person appoints someone else to cast their vote for them. This may occur for a variety of reasons, such as if the voter is unable to attend the polling station, or if they wish to delegate their vote to someone they trust to represent their interests. For example, a voter may be unable to attend a polling station due to illness or disability, and so they may appoint a family member or friend to cast their vote for them. Alternatively, a voter may wish to delegate their vote to a political party or interest group that they support. In this way, voting by proxy allows individuals to participate in the electoral process even if they are unable to cast their vote in person.
