x + $\frac{1}{x}$ = 4, find x2 + $\frac{1}{x^{2}}$
= (x + $\frac{1}{x}$ )2 = x2 + $\frac{1}{x^{2}}$ + 2
x2 + $\frac{1}{x^{2}}$ = ( x + $\frac{1}{x^{2}}$ )2 - 2
= (4)2 - 2
= 16 - 2
= 14
