(a) Express everything as powers of 3: \(9 = 3^2\), \(27 = 3^3\).
\(3\times 9^{1+x} = 3^1 \times 3^{2(1+x)} = 3^{1 + 2 + 2x} = 3^{3 + 2x}\)
\(27^{-x} = 3^{-3x}\)
Equating indices: \(3 + 2x = -3x \ \Rightarrow\ 5x = -3 \ \Rightarrow\ \mathbf{x = -\dfrac{3}{5}}\).
