(c) The left ventricle has a thicker muscular wall than the right ventricle. [1]
(d) The left ventricle pumps blood around the whole body. It therefore must generate greater force and higher pressure than the right ventricle, which pumps only to the lungs. [2]
(e) Valves prevent blood flowing in the wrong, or reverse, direction. [1]
