What is the benefit of using a bulleted or numbered list in your document?

Bulleted and numbered lists break a block of continuous prose into separate, visually distinct items. Each point stands on its own line with a marker in front of it, which draws the reader's eye to individual pieces of information rather than forcing them to pick key points out of a dense paragraph.

This visual separation makes important points stand out and makes the overall document easier to scan and understand, which is the genuine purpose of using a list.
