What type of ICT is used for immersive gaming solutions?
Immersive gaming is designed to make the player feel physically present inside a simulated environment, rather than just looking at a screen from the outside. A portable entertainment device is a general term for handheld gadgets and does not by itself create this sense of presence, and a 360 degree panoramic viewer or an augmented reality visor overlay digital content onto or around the real world rather than fully replacing it with a simulated one.
A Virtual Reality (VR) headset is built specifically for this purpose. It covers the user's field of view completely and tracks head movement in real time, so turning your head shifts the view exactly as it would in the real world, creating the illusion of being inside the game's environment rather than watching it on a flat screen. This full replacement of the visual field, combined with motion tracking, is what makes VR the technology associated with immersive gaming.
The key distinguishing idea for the exam is full replacement of the visual field for immersion (virtual reality) versus overlaying digital elements onto the real world (augmented reality); immersive gaming specifically calls for the former.
