Joseph was sold to the Midianites by his brothers at Dothan. In the Bible, Joseph was one of the 12 sons of Jacob, and he was his father's favorite. Joseph's brothers were jealous of him and plotted to kill him, but instead, they sold him as a slave to the Midianites who were passing by on their way to Egypt. This happened in the town of Dothan, which was located in the northern part of Israel.
