The Traffic in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act was passed in Nigeria in 2003. The act is aimed at preventing and prohibiting human trafficking and punishing offenders. The act makes it illegal to recruit, transport, transfer, harbour, or receive persons by means of threat or use of force, coercion, deception, or other forms of exploitation for the purpose of exploitation. The act also provides for the protection and rehabilitation of victims of human trafficking.
