Answer Details
The Organization of African Unity (OAU) was primarily a political organization. It was established in 1963 with the objective of promoting unity and solidarity among African countries, and to defend their sovereignty and territorial integrity. The OAU played a significant role in the decolonization of African countries and was involved in mediating conflicts between member states. In 2002, the OAU was replaced by the African Union (AU), which has broader objectives, including economic and social development.
